Rudd (Scardinius erythropthtalmus)

This fish has a wide body with a high back in oily green color. It can grow up to a length of 25 cm and weight up to 2 kg. The scales are big and of a goldish color, its fins are blood red. The positioning of its lips hints at its surface feeding habbits. This fish can mostly be found in dead channels, river bays natural and manmade lakes. The rudd mostly lives in groups and feels at home between the reeds.

It can mostly be found 15 centimeters below the surface. Its diet is made up of worms, larvae, insects on the surface and vegetation.
