By this stage of the event, it had become clear that the story was not shaped only by the battle at the very top, but also by several pegs and teams that had unexpectedly moved into the spotlight.

The Kisfaludy Strand section in Balatonfüred had not usually been considered one of the strongest areas in the history of the IBCC, but this year a surprising turnaround unfolded there. By that point, Team hal.hu, fishing on peg 298, had landed 11 fish for a total of 153.10 kg, which placed them in 16th position. Compared to previous years, this section proved to be far more active, adding a new dimension to the competition and once again showing that old patterns on Lake Balaton could be rewritten at any time.

During the morning hours, Nikl & Carp R Us – UB also strengthened their position. Fishing on peg 241, the team stood in second place in the Biggest 5 competition. On top of that, they were also holding the biggest fish of the tournament so far, leading the Biggest Common Carp category. This kept the pressure firmly on the frontrunners, and they were within striking distance of taking over the top of the overall BIG 5 ranking if they could improve their existing catch line-up with another 20-plus carp.

The weather once again posed a serious challenge for the field throughout most of the day. A second-degree storm warning remained in effect around Lake Balaton for hours, significantly limiting the teams’ options. After 8 p.m., however, the warning was downgraded to first degree, reopening the opportunity for anglers to take to the water and continue fishing more actively.

More notable catches arrived during the day as well. Team hal.hu from Balatonfüred reported a carp over 21 kg, further strengthening their performance. Starbaits – Slezsko, fishing on peg 238, landed a 28-kilogram carp, producing one of the most spectacular and memorable moments of the day. On peg 227, Mivardi SK1 also checked in with a beautiful common carp, while teams across the lake had to battle strong winds and difficult conditions.

The events of the fifth competition day once again showed clearly that IBCC 2026 was not only about big catches, but also about adaptation, endurance and constant tactical decision-making. As the event moved closer to its final stage, every single fish, every weather shift and every good decision carried greater and greater importance.

The fifth competition day once again delivered plenty of excitement for the IBCC 2026 field.
