Atinge maturitatea la v\u00e2rsta de 3-4 ani \u015fi \u00ee\u015fi  alege  pentru  reproducere a zon\u0103 cu ap\u0103 pu\u0163in ad\u00e2nc\u0103 de l\u00e2ng\u0103 malul apei, unde    depune p\u00e2n\u0103 la 45000 icre, \u00eentr-o mas\u0103 gelatinoas\u0103, care se aga\u0163\u0103 de   plante \u015fi  de obiecte submerse. Pentru reproducere, bibanul are nevoie   de o temperatur\u0103 a  apei de 8-12 grade Celsius.
