The shores of Lake Balaton turned into a true international meeting point, as 302 teams from 26 countries lined up at the official opening to tune in together for the start of one of the world’s biggest carp fishing competitions.

Once again, the parade of flags was one of the most memorable moments of the opening event. Teams arrived for this prestigious challenge not only from many countries across Europe, but also from Asia and South Africa. The parade perfectly reflected everything the IBCC stands for: international prestige, sportsmanship, and the strong community that brings this special competition to life year after year.

Following the opening ceremony and the draw, the focus shifted to the start on the very next day. Teams took up their drawn positions, completed their final preparations, and at noon on Sunday, the 12th IBCC officially got underway. With that, the six-day, non-stop battle began — a competition where every bite, every decision, and every well-timed tactical move can carry serious significance.
This year again, Lake Balaton may present a major challenge for the field. On these waters, it is not enough to fish well: patience, endurance, coordinated teamwork, and constant adaptation are all essential. The opening hours are especially important, as they can lay the foundation for the rhythm of the coming days and for each team’s overall strategy.
So the competition is now underway, and the big questions are already in the air:
how big will this year’s largest carp be,
which teams will start the week the strongest,
and which ones will be able to deliver truly consistent performances on the shores of Lake Balaton?
